Product: Textured Vegetable Protein


I was at the dentist this week, and in the next room the dentist and customer were talking about eating low fat. The dentist (not mine) was wondering what one could put into spaghetti sauce, and was wondering if tofu would be good. My teeth were being cleaned but I wanted to call out: TVP!

TVP is from soy flour, and it's a nice, chunky sort of meat replacement, and it absorbs liquid fast. You can soak it in a bouillon first, or just put it in spaghetti sauce to add meat like texture. I think it's better than the fake ground beef from Yves Veggie Cuisine.

They also sell it in bigger chunks.
