Cookbooks: BURTON eat, drink & be vegan

I was buying something from amazon and I needed to get up to the free shipping amount... right? Needed? So after much deliberation (way too much--I like stuff that has the same discount as I get at work, and I needed cheap too, plus have to read all the reviews...) I settled on two cookbooks.

Dreena Burton
eat, drink & be vegan

I take it from the reviews that she's mondo popular, and people find this book even better than the last. I've tried a Rice Krispie recipe that's great; tomorrow it's the blueberry pancakes.

The Chickpea Patties were meh--although I froze the leftover patties into little bags, and I take them to school as snacks. So worked out ok. Might even make them again, though I'd like to try out some other patty recipes first.

Tonight I tried Lemon Garlic Pasta--meh. Maybe I'll enjoy the leftovers more.

I also made Seared Portobellos, and really didn't like them. I ended up with some clumps of gelatinous olive oil around my mushrooms. And I wasn't crazy about the marinade either. As usual, I'm sure there are things I did *wrong* but if a recipe can't withstand Me, then it's no good for me.

The good so far: I made blueberry pancakes that were fine; the Nicer Krispie Squares were hard, but the best RK Square replacement I've tried; and the Potato Squashers are SO incredible that they're evil. I'm going to end up buying a bag of potatoes every week!
