MILK: Egg Nog @ 02:15 pm
Source: Papillon
I used to buy a particular brand of soy nog - I can't remember the name/brand. It comes in a yellow carton with a green wreath on the front, sold at Metro. The first year I bought it, I thought it was incredible--I bought as much as the store would carry. Then one year I hit this really bad batch. I mean, it was DISGUSTING. Something had gone wrong in a large batch, I guess--it was watery, with big gloopy bits, and this horrible metallic aftertaste. Brrr. Clearly some quality control issues. What annoyed me more was that I emailed them about it, and I never received a reply. Last year I bought just a couple containers, but I was so suspicious of it, I could hardly drink them. I swore I could still taste that weird aftertaste.
This year I'm not going to buy any--I had thought, if anything, I'd buy my own. But I was at Papillon yesterday and they have soy nog from Vitasoy, as well as peppermint chocolate milk. They both taste quite nice. The soy nog isn't very thick, but at least it doesn't have any weirdness to it. The peppermint chocolate is good heated up.
